Schedule Filming
Our filming was scheduled for Saturday, December 16th. Filming started after sunset, around 6. This lighting wasn't ideal, however we had to compromise on when out crew was able to get together. We aimed for a time when the street would be fairly busy. This time worked for our actors.

We also ended up changing our shooting location to one of the other locations we scouted, hoping for a larger crowd. This location worked out in the end, although I feel that the lighting was harmed by the storefronts along this location combined with the late shooting time making for a dark background.

Our biggest struggle ended up being that an initial shot location would no longer allow us to shoot there. We wanted to shoot a high-angle shot from the second floor of a restaurant, which we had previously gotten permission to do. Once we got the the location to film, however, we were told the restaurant was too crowded for us to use for filming. We had to make do with having one of out actors hold the camera as high as he could from on top of a bench. Although these circumstances were an unforeseen setback, the shot turned out fine.

Casting
Our casting requires four people. We need:
-A protagonist, the female superhero. She has super strength but is trying to keep it a secret while still helping others. Late teens.
-A thief. Male. Tall and intimidating. Late teens to early twenties.
-A victim. Female. Gets her purse stolen by the thief. Looks like a mom, early thirties.
-An agent. Gender unspecified. Sees protagonist in the crowd, follows and corners her. Intimidating. Sleek-looking, professional. Age unspecified.
The cast we have chosen consists of:
-Protagonist will be played by one of our group members, Maya Santry. She has acting experience and looks the part well.

-The thief will be played by Evan Morgan. He is lanky and the correct age for the part.

-The victim will be played by Lauren Bogart. Lauren does look correct for the part, but the main reason for her casting is her availability.

-The agent will be played by Dominique Golder. Dominique has a sleek, professional look to her that will fit well with the look of a secret agent. She has experience with modeling but not acting. Her age seems young, but she looks older so her age doesn't matter.

Script
I have written this script as one of my contributions to this project. I am not entirely satisfied with the transitions of this script, but we must adapt the the limitations of our actors and our access to filming tools.
Busy street, ambient sounds of
cars and restaurants in the distance.
We see VICTIM walking with her
purse, then PROTAGONIST in front of her. Both are walking alone and distracted
from their surroundings. We see ROBBER behind them both, who is eyeing up VICTIM’s
purse. ROBBER is focused yet anxious, with his hood up and shoulders hunched.
ROBBER begins approaching, still
focus but also cautious of surroundings. He snatches the purse from VICTIM and
begins booking it. VICTIM begins to panic.
VICTIM: My purse!
PROTAGONIST turns head
around towards VICTIM, concerned. She sees ROBBER starting to take off and,
determined, turns her whole body in a large sweeping motion, firmly planting
herself. ROBBER runs into PROTAGONIST, falling flat on the ground with the
force of it.
ROBBER grunts in pain, still on
the ground. PROTAGONIST reaches down to ROBBER and takes the purse. PROTAGONIST
walks around ROBBER to VICTIM and holds the purse out to her.
PROTAGONIST: Here’s your purse
back.
VICTIM moves gaze from looking
shocked down at ROBBER up to PROTAGONIST, before shifting her expression back
to joy.
VICTIM: Thank yo-
VICTIM’s expression goes back to
shocked and afraid, looking over PROTAGONIST’s shoulder. PROTAGONIST begins to
turn around when ROBBER punches PROTAGONIST in the jaw. PROTAGONIST doesn’t budge,
the punch having no effect on her. ROBBER pulls hand back, shocked and
confused. PROTAGONIST, now full of rage, pushes ROBBER back, forcing him back
on the ground.
We see AGENT in the background, stone-faced
but aware of the situation. PROTAGONIST then realizes what happened and begins
to act hurt by the punch.
PROTAGONIST: Uuuummmm OW
THAT HURT!
PROTAGONIST notices AGENT among
the crowd and becomes anxious, wanting to get out of the situation as soon as
possible. PROTAGONIST turns away from AGENT and puts her hood up, beginning
walking at a fast pace. VICTIM tries to approach PROTAGONIST, looking
concerned.
VICTIM: Are you okay?
PROTAGONIST doesn’t turn towards
VICTIM, only continuing her walking. Her tone and response are short.
PROTAGONIST: I’m fine.
As PROTAGONIST keeps walking,
AGENT begins to follow, keeping the same pace as they walk through the crowded
street. PROTAGONIST is aware she is being followed even without turning around.
She becomes increasingly concerned as she can’t shake AGENT, wanting to break
into a run but unable to without making a scene. PROTAGONIST looks concerned
yet determined, while AGENT looks unfazed. PROTAGONIST comes to a corner and
turns around, left with no other options but to face the situation head on. Her
expression shifts to one of fear. AGENT stops running, but walks forward more
to keep PROTAGONIST cornered. They keep their calm appearance.
AGENT: I know who you are.
PROTAGONIST looks scared and
cornered, much smaller than when they faced ROBBER. She pants, out of breath,
on the verge of submitting. AGENT looks completely calm, as if they are
unaffected by the situation. Their intimidating attitude shifts to purposeful
as they hold out their hand.
AGENT: And I have a job for you.
We see PROTAGONIST react, uncertain about the offer.

Scouting Locations
We scouted this location looking for somewhere that would be crowded and narrow. We went later in the day when it was less crowded, but this location usually is. We would like to possibly use this location for when our protagonist initially runs into the thief.
We looked at this location as another possible area for the protagonist-thief interaction. The streets aren't as narrow so the crowd won't look as large, but filming would be easier since we would have to worry less about people standing in front of the camera too much.
A possible good location for when the protagonist is getting chased. These stairs lead to a second floor of a strip mall, but the doors are usually locked. This could allow for the protagonist getting cornered by the agent, since she could run up the stairs and attempt to open the door but have it locked.
Another busy place for the protagonist-thief interaction. This location has an area that we can easily access from above it to take high-angle shots, however it's also a street, so we would have to worry about cars.
In the end, my group intends to use the location with the stairs. It has some convenient angles and is run down with lots of muted colors, which helps with the composition of the scene. The street can be busy, but not so busy it is distracting from the scene.

Film Project Research- Hellboy
The scene begins with a voice over and slowly zooming in on an island. The scene fades into a shot of a man in a cave, with text on the bottom of the screen saying the date is October of 1944 in Scotland. There is ambient noise of dripping water being echoed through the cave. The shot cuts to a mid-shot of a statue of Jesus hanging on a crucifix. A track shot follows down the statue until it gets to the base of it and two men come into the shot. The men attempt to exchange two different props, a string of prayer beads and a gun. These props express the passive nature of one of the men and the aggressive nature of the other. The passive man is dressed formally and wearing classes, while the aggressive man is dressed as if ready for battle and has a cigar hanging from his moth. This costume design helps t show the contrast of the two men.The aggressive man leaves the shot, and the camera pans down to a low angle t have both the passive man and the crucifix in the show, adding to the implication that this man knows more about whatever situation the two men just discussed, and that he feels they should be praying for their life.
The shot switches to a high angle over-the-shoulder shot of the statue looking down at the man as he nods to the statue. The shot pans up as he runs into the crowd of people behind him, showing the crowd. The shot then cuts to the same man talking with someone else who is also heavily dressed for battle and is holding a gun, the prop and costume design serving to show that they are in the middle of a battle. Incidental music plays in the background that serves to heighten tension of the scene by using lots of high notes. The entire scene is presented in a blue tone to imply the dreary-ness of the scene, coupled with the steady rain and diagetic, ambient sound of the rain. You can also see the occasional lighting strike lighting up the scene. Towards the end of the scene, an over-the-shoulder, eyeline match shot is used to show a run-down building that the men are looking intently at, using a track shot to move to a high angle shot and show more of the building, expressing the importance of it.
The movie has no opening credits. The movies budget was 66 million USD and the movie grossed 99.3 million USD at the box office. The movie was nominated for many awards. Some of it's wins include Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horro Films, USA award for best makeup and Imagen Foundation Awards award for best director.

Film Project Research- Captain America: The First Avenger
The film opens with the Paramount logo, then the Marvel logo, with a sound bridge leading into the scene. The sound is of blowing wind that fades into ominous-sounding, incidental music. The camera has a fade-in into a shot of a blank, grey scene. Two foggy lights come into the grey, which are obviously headlights. As the headlights come closer, one light eventually takes up the whole frame.A man finally fills in the grey space, standing in what looks like a wasteland of snow. The man is wearing a heavy coat and is yelling over the load wind, which helps with implying that the area is a cold, windy, snow-covered place.
Throughout the men's interaction, a sunrise or set is in the background. his slight tint of coloring to the scene gives a feeling of something changing or coming, where in this scene that thing is Steve out of the ice.
When the large ship that Steve crashed in comes into view with a mid-shot, with the two men still in the foreground, the incidental music shifts key to be more menacing, creating anticipation. the shot then switches to an over-the shoulder high angle shot from on top of the ship, looking down at the two men we previously saw talking. after this, it cuts to a close-up shot of the two men reacting to seeing the ship, then cutting back to the ship and using a track shot to move to show the path of the ship, showing it crashed.
A pan shows us the men as they lower themselves into the ship after cutting a hole in it using some sot of high-tech machinery, showing the audience that this is a modern or near future time period. The coloring of the inside of the ship is blues and greys, which contrast with the red of Steve's shield when it is shown later in the scene. The two men are both holding flashlights that frequently shine into the camera, obstructing the audiences view of the scene, forcing the viewer to see as unclearly as the two men in the darkness and the snow. Once the men see Steve's shield, one understands what it is and one doesn't. The camera zooms into the face of the man who understands, showing his reaction as he forces a call to the Coronal, showing how drastic of a situation finding this is.
The films budget was 140 million USD and the film grossed 370 million USD worldwide. The film was nominated for dozens of awards, with its wins including the Scream Awards award for best superhero, the BMI film and TV Awards award for film music, and the Visual Affects Society Awards award for outstanding compositing in a feature motion picture.

Film Project Research- Wonder Woman
The beginning of the film is actually a flash forward to what happens after the rest of the movie. It opens with a fad-in onto Earth, then zooming in. Throughout the zoom-in, there is a voice over of Wonder Woman which includes incidental music. When it finishes zooming in, landing on The Louvre in France, it cuts to a track shot of Wonder Woman walking. The costume design has Wonder Woman wearing a sweater with a long back that gives the implication of a cape, implying that she is Wonder Woman and is a hero even in casual clothing.A car then drives up with "Wayne Enterprises" on the side. The car comes into the scene and blocks the original focus of the shot, which was Wonder Woman. Two people get out of the car and go to the back, where they pull our a briefcase that also says "Wayne Enterprises." The camera remains close up on the briefcase, having it take up most of the screen composition.
The color design is mostly grey tones, such as the glass of The Louvre and the large ponds. This gives the outside of the building a cold and sanitary feeling, implying that Wonder Woman has integrated into society and its clinical feeling. This contrasts with the next scene back in her birthplace, which uses warm tones to contrast the opening.
The scene changes with a graphic match, going from a picture of Wonder Woman to a scene of her as a child. The picture of her fades into the one of her as a child with them being in the same location among the screens composition. This helps the viewer immediately understand that this younger child is Wonder Woman even though she is younger and being called Diana.
The film doesn't have any opening credits, only displaying the DC company intro. The film has a budget of 149 million USD and grossed 800 million USD. The film won many awards including the Golden Trailer Award for Best of Show and Best Fantasy Adventure and the Teen Choice Award for best action film, actor and actress.

Film Project Research- Spiderman: Homecoming

The first two minutes of this film begins with the villains backstory rather than the heroes. The opening explains that the villains job is taken by the company run by he heroes, so he steals alien technology to create his own villain suit. The scene opens on a drawing made by the villains child of the superheroes, where the camera then zooms out of the drawing to show the villain holding it and showing his colleague. The scene transitions to a shot of the building the villain is looking at, being an eyeline match, then panning down the building to show the size of it, being a track shot. It then pans down to the destruction below the building that the villain is cleaning up for his job. The destruction was caused by the heroes, and this shot brilliantly portrays the flawless, large building that is the headquarters of the super heroes, then panning down to the destruction they caused that is having to be cleaned up by others, hinting at how high and mighty and high class the heroes live while acting like they fight for the people, however they are living on top of the destruction the caused and making others clean up after them.
The only opening credit the film uses is their own intro for the Marvel company. The films budget was 175 million USD and grossed over 880 million USD. The film won the Teen Choice Awards for Choice Summer Movie, Choice Summer Movie Star: Male (Tom Holland), and Choice Summer Movie Star: Female (Zendaya).
